Estimated result

Enter the settings to calculate how much you need to save.

Required contribution

The calculator estimates the minimum periodic contribution required based on your goal and selected duration.

Effect of investment returns

A positive return can reduce the required contributions, but actual investment returns are never guaranteed.

Effect of inflation

You can automatically increase the future target to preserve approximately the same purchasing power.

Calculation Method

The calculator determines, through successive approximation, the periodic contribution required to reach your savings goal.

Formulas Used

Net Periodic Return Rate (rpr_p) :

rp=(1+RannualFfees100)1n1r_p = \left(1 + \frac{R_{\text{annual}} - F_{\text{fees}}}{100}\right)^{\frac{1}{n}} - 1

Inflation-Adjusted Target (if enabled) :

Objectifeff=Objectif×(1+i100)anneˊes\text{Objectif}_{\text{eff}} = \text{Objectif} \times \left(1 + \frac{i}{100}\right)^{\text{années}}

If enabled, the target amount is increased to reflect the reduced purchasing power of money over the savings period.

Search for the Required Contribution (CC) :

Trouver C tel que Soldefinal(C)=Objectifeff\text{Trouver } C \text{ tel que } \text{Solde}_{\text{final}}(C) = \text{Objectif}_{\text{eff}}

The algorithm tests different contribution amounts until it finds the one that reaches the target balance by the end of the period.

Displayed amounts are in nominal dollars, except where the inflation-adjusted target is used.
